IMS was established in 1992, and has grown to become one of Western Canada’s largest independent marine surveying and cargo inspection organizations. Over the years, IMS has established itself as an unbiased, objective and knowledgeable surveying company. Based in Vancouver, Canada’s largest and busiest port, IMS offers a comprehensive range of professional consulting, superintendency, inspection and marine surveying services across Canada and, through its affiliates, worldwide.
IMS has experienced steady growth over the years. The ownership was consolidated under the present Owners in May 1997. Shortly thereafter, we decided to relocate to a more suitable location, and in May 1998, IMS moved to its new Headquarters with both office and warehouse space. The Headquarters is conveniently located in Burnaby, BC (in the Greater Vancouver district) and is only minutes away from most docks.
IMS is ISO 9001:2015 Certified. IMS has continuously worked to improve the work environment and surveying routines we use, and has developed sophisticated computer software for various surveying types to assist us along the way. It was a natural step for us to aim for, and achieve, the ISO 9002 Certification on October 21st, 2001. On December 31st, 2003 we received new certification under the BS EN ISO 9001:2000 standard, and on November 25th, 2009 we received new certification under the BS EN ISO 9001:2008 standard.
IMS became certified under the BS EN ISO 9002:1994 standard on October 21, 2001, upgraded to BS EN ISO 9001:2000 on December 31, 2003, upgraded to BS EN ISO 9001:2008 on November 25, 2009, and upgraded to BS EN ISO 9001:2015 on February 5, 2018.
